An "other" Day
I was reading through some pieces that I've written and I stumbled across this one. As always, it came at an appropriate time. As I go through the makings of this film, I'm learning to take each bump and hiccup as an opportunity to make me greater and stronger. So bring on those days!
An Other Day
Life comes at you fast
Sometimes it feels like it’s problem after problem
Issue after issue
Headache after Headache
You have your good and your bad,
Your ups and your downs,
Your greats and your horrible.
But you press on.
Even through the troubles,
You endure.
You build up your strength and ride on this natural high.
And just as you begin to ride that plateau,
Life hits you with an ‘other’ day.
An ‘other’ day.
You know, a day different from the rest.
A day contrary from the norm.
A day when you’re hit so hard that your bones ache
And you back breaks
From all the crap you take.
From the things you think no possible human could survive.
And you wonder, why me?
How much more can I take on?
I don’t want anymore!
No more days that stick out from the rest.
No more days that weigh down heavy on your chest.
No more!
No more ‘other’ days.
Days that are opposite to what your want,
What you need,
What you deserve.
But you sit back and examine those ‘other’ days.
What really makes them so different?
One more problem added to your plate.
One more issue that you have to solve.
One more person that you have to avoid.
One more obstacle for you to overcome.
Then you think, even through every issue and every problem,
You’ve taken something away.
You walked away a little bit stronger.
You walked away a little bit wiser.
You’ve taken away a lesson learned from each situation.
So yes, it hurts.
Yes, it’s painful.
Yes, it’s hard to endure, but look at the person you’ve
become.
So bring on the days that stick out.
Bring on the days that pull you.
Bring on the days that stress you out.
Bring ‘em on because it isn’t an ‘other’ day.
Man, it’s just another day.

A Rough Journey
The road to making this film has been a rough one. I feel like I am always putting out fires. ALWAYS!
This weekend we go into what is supposed to be our final weekend of filming. Prayerfully! And it hasn't been easy getting there. People have been getting sick, schedules have changed at the last minute, equipment stopped working, last minute added expenses, etc. Sometimes I want to scream, sometimes I want to cry, sometimes I want to throw something, sometimes I want to crawl up in a corner and rock back and forth (crazy style). But you know what, I wouldn't change any of it for the world. I'm doing what I completely love to do and nothing worth doing comes easy.
So, I embrace the challenges because they make me a better writer/producer/businesswoman. And I thank every individual that supports me along the journey. Thank you!

1000 in 30: Week 2
Week one down and we are 5% towards our goal. Thank you to those who have given within our first week. There is still time to give!
A few years ago I learned that a couple of my friends and family members were victims of sexual assault. After this revelation, three questions kept gnawing at me:
· After the assault is committed, what happens to them?
· How did they heal, or how are they healing, in the aftermath?
· How did we, the community, play a part in that healing, if any?
These questions ignited a passion to discover the answers. According to the U.S. Department of Justice and the RAINN website, every two minutes someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted (2006–10). By the time you finish reading this email another individual will have suffered this tragic event. That is an unsettling thought to me and I want to do more.
Set to premiere later this year in the DC Metropolitan area, Unheard follows the lives of multiple individuals who have been victims of molestation and/or rape. In a world where sexual abuse is sensationalized, Unheard looks at the journey in the aftermath. It breaks the boundaries and stereotypes of what sexual abuse looks like. It is not a poor crime, a gender specific crime, or a crime against a certain age or background.
It is our responsibility to know our role and make a change. Help us tell their story. The MDP team is working hard to explore all avenues to meet our financial goals and have set out to raise $1000 in the next 30 days. You can give either by mailing a check (made out to MaineDrama Productions, LLC) to the mailing address below, or via Paypal at mainedramapro@gmail.com. And don't forget to keep watch of our goal progress at the bottom of this blog.
As a reminder, your contribution will go towards equipment purchase, props, and craft service for the cast. Each contribution level receives an incentive:
And as always, if you cannot give financially, pass along the word. Forward this email, our information, and the link to our trailer. Word of mouth is a powerful tool and we cannot raise awareness about Unheard without you!
