Pretty great, huh?  That's just a little teaser of what's to come!  We've officially been accepted into this summer's Capital Fringe Festival, running from July 10 to 27, 2014! Exciting news!

Each day, we are one step closer to show time and one step closer to our reaching our fundraising goal!
Our goal is to raise $5,000. We've extended the deadline to February 10, 2014.  You can help us meet our deadline by clicking on the donate button below. There's still time. Spread the word thatPoint...Blank...Period! is coming.

Point…Blank…Period! is a riveting compilation of spoken word, monologues, and short scenes centered around a woman’s period!  That’s right…that monthly visitor that we can’t live with but can’t live without.   This production will look at various women’s love/hate relationship with that life-giving function that we so desperately need. ARTIST OF THE MONTH
Tremayne Woodard is an emerging actress from Washington, D.C.  In May 2009, she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Miami (FL) where she also minored in Religious Studies. While studying for her degree, she kept her creative side alive by performing hip-hop dance routines and acting in student-lead theater productions. Upon graduation, she decided to take the leap into the entertainment industry and pursue a career in acting. She started by taking several classes around the D.C. area to hone her skills and eventually landed roles in several plays (including Breaking DownAll the Man I Need at the Atlas Theater, College Fever) and films, both short and feature length, in and around the D.C. area.  Acting is her passion and she looks forward to the day when she can do it full-time. Tremayne is also the Assistant Director for Point..Blank...Period!

While in grad school, I met a woman who you couldn't help but notice. She was a big personality with the brains to back it all up. I knew that whatever she did, it would be a great success. Her new venture is worth looking into...I promise!

In the summer of 2013, when Jennifer Clarke founded Docent.co, she envisioned an ecommerce site where emerging artists could reach collectors.  It was an idea four years in the making.  In the early days the company sold some pieces, but speaking with her board of advisors it was clear and problematic that there were no real differentiators between Docent.co and the 200 other niche e-commerce sites out there.  In the four years it took to bring Docent to life, ecommerce got easier and sites just kept cropping up.

The company needed to pivot, and fast.  In a marketplace as competitive as the arts, strong relationships and great pieces of art just weren’t enough.  After months of talks and story-boarding the answer emerged.  The art world was a place of division and exclusion, naturally.  Only one person, after all, can own a painting at a given time.  The competition, even among art enthusiasts, to own something unique is fierce.  There needed to be a way to make a highly differentiated, widely dispersed marketplace manageable.  The ART|CENSUS and ART|BOX were born.

The ART|CENSUS is a digital project aimed at finding all of the world’s artists and mapping their location.  By mapping the art community, it will be easier for collectors to find artists close by, and even request studio visits with artists directly.  The artists joining the ART|CENSUS can also participate in the ART|BOX program.  A product modeled after Birchbox, that allows collectors to receive a high quality small print every month, until they decide on a larger acquisition to make their own.

This February Docent is launching their For the Love of Art campaign to raise money to improve the ART|CENSUS and ART|BOX functionality on their site.  Their Kickstarter goal is a modest $10,000 with some pretty stellar reach goals outlined.  You can find the teaser video for the campaign on youtube at www.Kickstartervideo.Docent.co.

A couple weeks ago I met Deborah Mdurvwa and was just amazed by her, her business and drive! She hosted an event and I walked away with at least three pieces. I knew that I had to feature her in this month's issue! Check out her site, what her company is about, and her featured item of the month: the leather glove. They are MDP approved!

Stilettos, clutch, and your Mdurvwa piece, now you are ready to take on the town. The big city of daydreams and bright lights surely has a way of inspiring you none other than New York City. Where dreams are often created and chased. This is the city where one faithful shopping trip changed celebrity accessory designer Deborah Mdurvwa destiny.
Are you daring? Are you contemporary? Are you inspired? If you say are ready for the modern age of Mdurvwa. This collection is not for the shy individual, but someone who wants to make a statement. With chain metal, leather and unexpected color ways this accessory line is what you are missing from your jewelry box.

Using her fashion background for working under designers such as Rachel Roy, Rosa Cha and Estaban Cortazar Deborah is finally ready to step from behind the shadows and into the spot light. She uses her contemporary sense to fuse with her heritage. Originally inspired from Deborah’s Nigerian background, you tend to see afro centeric prints derive throughout her collection in subtle ways. With her finger on fashions pulse Mdurvwa is the collection of the future.
